An equine facilitated group for women overcoming depression.
For women of any age.  Group is limited to 6 women.
Fridays 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
May 7 – June 18, 2010 (7 sessions) 

Working with horses you will:

•    Create a safe, supportive environment
      with others who understand
•    Practice self-care
•    Identify the symptoms of depression
•    Understand the many causes of depression
•    Practice assertiveness and how to ask clearly
      for what you want
•    Identify what makes you feel better
•    Refine your understanding of non-verbal communication
•    Practice setting realistic goals
•    Strengthen your coping skills
•    Recognize the impact of negative thinking
•    Practice taking safe risks and stepping outside your
      comfort zone
•    Have fun outdoors with friendly, well-trained horses

Group fee: $695

$200 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve a spot.

Full payment is due two weeks before the first group meeting.

The group fee of $695 includes:
•    In office 50 minute intake interview with Martha McNiel, LMFT
•    7 two-hour equine facilitated psychotherapy group sessions
•    Horse/stable fees and insurance

“Stable Women” will be led by Martha McNiel, Director of DreamPower Horsemanship.  Martha is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA license MFC34795), NARHA Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor and a Certified Equine Interaction Professional in Mental Health.

No prior horse experience is necessary.  Most of the group work with horses will be unmounted.  When riding horseback an ASTM approved equestrian helmet is required and will be provided by DreamPower.
