October 26, 2010 - National Disability Employment Awareness Celebration at San Jose City College
Congress has designated October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month to increase the public's awareness of the contributions and skills of American workers with disabilities. DreamPower will be participating in celebrating this awareness at San Jose City College on October 26 from 11am-1pm next to the SJCC Student Center. The DreamPower mini ponies might go to college!
October 22, 2010 - Pacific West Christian Academy Work Day
From 12:30-2:30pm approximately 60 junior high students and 8 adult teachers and parents from Pacific West Christian Academy are coming to DreamPower for a community service project. If you are available during those hours and would like to come help supervise 60 junior high students while they are working at the barn, we could use your help. Should be fun!!

Thank you - VERY MUCH - to the South County Country Dancers for sponsoring Tulips, a veteran DreamPower therapy horse, this year. This is the first year that Tulips has had a sponsor and we are so grateful to the wonderful folks who swing, kick and dance the night away to benefit local charities. The Dancers have been faithful, wonderful supporters of our DreamPower horses and clients for several years. THANK YOU, DANCERS!! The cost of sponsoring a horse for one year is $4,000.

September 12, 2010 - Morgan Hill Kiwanis Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser
The fourth annual Spaghetti Feed to benefit DreamPower will take place at the Morgan Hill Grange from 4 to 7pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under age 10.

Septmeber 4, 2010 - NARHA Region 11 Awards DreamPower Founder a $500 Conference Scholarship
Thank you to NARHA Region 11 for awarding Martha McNiel, DreamPower's Founder and Director, a $500 scholarship to attend the NARHA National Conference in Denver, CO in November this year. This scholarship will cover the cost of the conference registration fee. This conference is an annual highlight for getting new ideas and meeting with colleagues from around the world who partner with horses in healing work.

The Gilroy chapter of Operation Interdependence, who "support our troops by sending 'goodies' to our troops," took up a collection while packing boxes of goodies and donated $155.

August 2, 2010 - Foundation for Global Sports Development $2,500 Grant
DreamPower thanks the Foundation for Global Sports Development awarded DreamPower a grant of $2500 for the Equine Journey Wilderness Program. This is the third year the Foundation for Global Sports Development has supported DreamPower. GSD supports those primarily grassroots organizations operating programs that forward the GSD mission: promoting sportsmanship, education, fair play and ethics among youth. August 1, 2010 - Happy 8th Birthday DreamPower
DreamPower Horsemanship turns 8 years old this month. DreamPower began in August 2002 with one client, one horse (Nick - Martha's personal Arab), one mini (Zachary) and one volunteer. In 2009, over 180 volunteers, 10 riding horses and 4 mini's served 302 individual clients in 10 different programs.
